The perfect craft studio

I am obsessed with the rooftops of France.  I spend my whole time looking up at the rooflines and dormer windows of the top floor apartments.  I don't know why.  Maybe it's my love of Frances Hodgson Burnett's "A Little Princess" - my favourite book from childhood.

This pretty group of buildings are in the town of Beaune in Burgundy.  Wouldn't one of those attic spaces make the perfect craft studio?  I could think of nothing better than being tucked away up there on a cold rainy day with the hum of a sewing machine, surrounded by fabric.

Hey, I miss you my friend - now I want to go and reread 'A little Princess' You gave Emma a gorgeous copy - think I'll go and sneak it out of her room.

Oh, I love those buildings too. When I was at university, I took a class on the architecture of London, Paris and Vienna in the 19th century, and one of my textbooks had floor plans of typical houses...I used to pore over those floor plans, imagining what I would do with each room, and all those cozy little nooks on the top floor always seemed so charming and romantic.
It sounds like your trip has been wonderful, thanks for sharing all the pictures and thoughts!
