The sewing room that was
Wednesday, September 10, 2014
This year I have been way too busy for any lovely down-time in my sewing room. And it's just as well, as it now looks like this.
There's not a thread, a scrap of fabric or a sewing machine in sight. Our house is currently on the market and, taking the real estate agent's advice, I have transformed my little haven at home into a dining room.
I personally think a potential buyer would get more excited over a crafty den than a dining room that rarely gets used, but hey, we crafters are in the minority aren't we. Not everyone gets excited about piles of fabric and spools of thread.
It's hard to recognise the space. And of course real estate agents use those fish eye lenses that make rooms look so vast. You can just make out the fireplace behind my card patterns above.
Our house auctions next weekend. Fingers crossed it sells on the day as I can't maintain this state of cleanliness indefinitely.
On other news our renovation is rocketing along and we will be in for Christmas. Famous last words I know.....
Just beautiful Kristine, as always. You really have impeccable taste. We are just starting a new build and hope to be in sometime early in the new year. Maybe I should hire you to decorate it for me. Good luck with the Auction, hope it all goes well x

I agree with you, Kristine, on the room being better used as a craft space rather than a "formal dining" - who lives that way anyway? It looks beautiful, you have done a great job styling it. All the best for next weekend & woohoo on the move before Xmas.

It looks lovely as a dining room Kris, but I did like it as a craft room too, agents know best though Good to hear the renovations are rocketing along, and that you'll be in before Christmas. That's really not that far away (as Pinterest reminded me a few weeks ago when people started posting Christmas pins). Good luck with the Auction, the opens are the worst - I still have chills remembering selling our last house with a nearly 4 year old, an 18 month old, a dog, an absent globe trotting husband and severe morning sickness. Never again!

Gosh what a shame to pack up your craft room, but what an elegant dining room. Hopefully next year will have more craft time for you (and us to admire).
All the best with your auction. I can't imagine how you keep your house ready for opens.

Your dining room is beautiful and I can't imagine it not appealing to any buyer. I love that you kept the dress form in it! Good luck with the auction this weekend!

Nice to see you back. I love the dining room, it looks just beautiful, but yes a craft room is also great!

I personally love your craft room - you have done an elegant job of decorating it as its alter ego AKA dining room xxx

Did you have success on the weekend?
